• Will, 14 Apr 1563. 1 In the name of god amen in the xiij daye of Apryle in the fyffe yere of the Reigne of Quene Elizabeth by the grace of god of Englande Frannce and Ireland quene defender of the faythe & un the yere of our lord god 1563 I Andrewe Egles of the parishe of Wadherst in the countye of Sussex and peculiar iurisdiction of Southmallinge beinge sycke in bodie but of perfycte memorie Thankes be unto god do ordayne and make my laste will and testament in ma[ner] & form following First I commend my Soule unto the handes of god my faythfull father hopinge to have everlastinge lyfe through Jesus Christ my Saviour and my bodye to be buryed in the churchyard of Wadhurst aforesaid Item I give and bequeathe the Annuytie of xxli pounds that ys in Thomas Bates handes unto my youngest Sonne Thomas to be payde unto hym at the age of xxi yeres And I will that yf the said Thomas Bates do fayle of the payment of his moneys at the tyme appointed & where I should have oute of his landes for ever to me and myne assignes I will tht and yf he paye it at reasonable w after the daye appointed that then his landes shalbe free unto him and his heyres for ever Item I will and bequeathe unto John my eldest Sonne xij pounds of moneye which is also in Thomas Bates handes to be payed to him at the age of xxj yeres Item I will tht and yf my Wyffe be with child man child That then he shall have viij li of the xxili pounds that is in Thomas Bates handes also to have iiijli out of th xii pounds the which I have bequeathed to my Sonne John. Item I will and bequeath unto every one of my daughters v markes a pece of goode and lawfull moneys to be payed unto them at the age of xxi yeres or ellse at the daye of their maryage I will tht and yf any of my daughters do dye before the Receipt thereof his my legacye that then her shal be devyded amonge them that shall Remayne by equall portions. Item I gyfe and bequeath xl to the poore
