The manor (extent given), including a market every Thursday, held of the king in chief, as of the barony of Giffard, which is in the king's hand, by service of eight knights' fees, and by paying 12d. yearly to the bailiffs of the king's hundred of Northerpingham at Alisham, which rent is called 'Warpound'; and the manor is charged by the deed (factum) of the said Richard in 40l. yearly to Roger de Loudham and Maud his wife, for the life of the said Maud.

ESSEX. Inq. 23 March, 9 Edward III.

Thorrok Grey. The manor (extent given), including a ferry (feria) [over] the Thames, with the fishery of two weirs, held of the earl of Lancaster by service of a knight's fee. Three parts of the said manor were, before the day of the said Richard's death, by virtue of two recognizances for 200l. and 100l. respectively, extended and delivered to Stephen, bishop of London, to hold until the said debt should be levied; and the manor is charged to pay 6s. yearly to the church of Thorrok, and 2s. 10d. yearly to the prior of St. John of Jerusalem in England.
