GILBERT, son of ---. An undated manuscript relating to Cokersand Abbey, Lancashire names "Gilbertum" as son of "Ketellus", but this is proved incorrect by the charter cited above which confirms that Gilbertīs wife was the sister of Ketel.
m GODITHA. Her parentage and marriage are confirmed by a charter of William of Lancaster to York St Leonardīs, confirming a donation by his "avunculus" Ketel fitz Eldred, from which it can be deduced that Williamīs mother was Ketelīs sister (assuming that avunculus is interpreted in its strict sense of maternal uncle). The primary source which confirms her name has not yet been identified.
Gilbert & his wife had [four] children: William, Roger, Robert and [Gilbert].
Gilbert married Goditha FitzEldred, daughter of Eldred and de Taillebois.
