Ralph Shirley, the elder, married, thirdly, Lucy, daughter of Sir John Asheton, of Asheton-under-Lyne, co. Lancaster, Knight of the Bath, and widow, first, of Sir Richard Byron of Colwich, co. Notts, knt. and Lord of Clayton, co. Lanc; and, secondly, of Sir Bertram Entwissell, of Entwissell, co. Lanc. knt. who was slain at the battle of St. Alban's in 1455 (33 Hen. VI..), and lies buried in St. Peter's church at St. Alban's, in the upper end of the tower, with this inscription: Here lyes Sr Bert'm Entwyssell, knight who was borne in Lancashire, and was Vycound and Baron of Bricbeck in Normandy, and Baylife of Constantine; who died the xxviii May, in the year of our Lord God mcccclv, on whose soulde God have mercy ame-- 2
