| George Goring
(After 1601-Abt 1651) |
George Goring
General Notes: George (Eldest Son of the aforesaid George) dyed without Issue. Research Notes: In the 1642 Protestation Returns, a George Goring is recorded in West Tarring. Events • Manorial Estate, 1640-1651, Balneath Manor, Chailey, Lewes, East Sussex, BN8 4AP, GB. 1 2 Balneath (or Balneth) formed part of the possessions of St. Pancras Priory at Lewes until the Dissolution. It was perhaps identical with the land which William de Warenne granted to the priory about 1095, being his demesne land 'from Beuehorne (Bevern) Bridge to Cheagele (Chailey) from the east road to the road beside the Bridge of Hamwde', which seems roughly to correspond with its present situation. The tenants of this manor had to carry 600 cartloads of wood yearly to the priory from Homewoodand Balneath Wood. • Baptism, 16 Nov 1641, Holy Cross Church, Bignor, West Sussex, RH20 1PQ, GB. • Residence, 25 Feb 1641/42, West Tarring, Worthing, BN13, West Sussex. 3 |
