General Notes: HARDING (-6 Nov after 1100). William of Malmesbury records that "Ednodus" (whose death he describes as above) was "pater Herdingi qui adhuc superest". As William of Malmesbury records events until 1142, it is possible that Harding survived considerably later than 1100, although it is of course not known when precisely the passage just quoted was written. ["…Herding…" witnessed the charter dated 1067 under which William I King of England donated property to the bishop of Wells. The chronology suggests that it is unlikely that this entry relates to the same person named Harding.] Harding married. |
