  General Notes:

LAURETTE (-Hackington 4 Mar [1266 or after]). Her parentage is confirmed by the Testa de Nevill which includes a writ of King John dated 1212 recording that "Willelmus de Brause" granted "manerium de Taustock" in Devon to "comiti Leycestrie in maritagium cum filia sua". Robert son of Parnel, Earl of Leicester, donated property to the abbey of Lire for the soul of Loreta his wife, by charter dated to [1190/1204]. She became a recluse at Hackington, near Canterbury, before Feb 1221. The necrology of Lyre monastery records the death "4 Mar" of "Laureta comitissa".

m ROBERT de Breteuil "FitzPernel" Earl of Leicester, son of ROBERT de Beaumont Earl of Leicester & his wife Pernelle de Grantmesnil (-20/21 Oct 1204, bur Leicester Abbey).

--------------------------------

He [Robert Earl of Leicester] married Laurette, daughter of William DE BRAIOSE or BRIOUZE, lord of Bramber, Brecknock and Gower. Her maritagium consisted of Couvert in the Bessin and the manor of Tavistock, Devon, parcel of the honour of Barnstaple which her ancestor Judicael, son of Alvred, had held. He died s.p., 20 or 21 October 1204, and was buried in Leicester Abbey. His widow had made gifts in her maritagium of Couvert to Lyre, and in 1208 Philip Augustus confirmed these gifts of "Laureta quondam comitissa Leycestriae." She and her lands were in the King's gift in 1218-1219, and on 16 October 1220, and she made a grant of her dower lands for three years, 30 June 1219. She became a recluse at Hackington, near Canterbury, apparently shortly before February 1220/1, and died there, 4 March of 1266 or of a later year, having survived her husband more than 60 years.
