  General Notes:

MABEL FitzRobert (-1198). An anonymous continuation of the Chronicle of Robert of Mont-Saint-Michel records (in order) "Comitissa Ebroicensis…uxor Guillelmi Comitis de Clara, tertia…in manu Dei et domini Regis" as the three daughters left by "Guillelmus Comes Glocestriæ" when he died. The Chronica de Fundatoribus et Fundatione of Tewkesbury Abbey names "Mabiliam comiti de Evereis in Normannia nuptam…Amiciam…Isabellam" as the three daughters of "comes Willielmus" and his wife. Benedict of Peterborough records "uxori Amauri comitis Ebroicanum" as "Willelmus filius Roberti filii regis Henrici primi comes Gloucestriæ…filiam ipsius comitis". Robert of Torigny records the marriage in 1170 of "primogenitam filiam Roberti comitis Gloecestriæ" and "Amauricus primogenitus filius Symonis comitis Ebroicensis". In another passage, Robert of Torigny records the death in 1183 of "Guillermus comes Gloecestriæ" leaving three daughters as his heirs, of whom one (mentioned first) was "comitissa Ebroicensis". The Annals of Tewkesbury record the death in 1198 of "Mabilia comitissa Ebroici".

m ([1170]) AMAURY [V] de Montfort Comte d'Evreux, son of SIMON [III] de Montfort Comte d'Evreux & his wife Mathilde --- (-13 Mar 1182). Their son Amaury [VI] de Montfort Comte d'Evreux was created Earl of Gloucester in 1199, after King John divorced his aunt Isabel Ctss of Gloucester.

[FMG/Medieval Lands]

John (King of England) prevented her (Isabel, youngest daughter of William FitzRobert) taking a second husband at all for the time being, however, and exchanged the Earldom of Gloucester with Aumarie de Montfort, son of William FitzRobert's eldest daughter Mabel, for the Comte of Evreux, which he then used as a dowry to secure the marriage of his niece Blanche with the King of France's son. Aumarie died childless.

[Burke's Peerage]

Note: As oldest daughter Mabel should have been Countess of Gloucester (probably King John pulled some shenanigans marrying Isabel, the youngest daughter and declaring her (& himself) heir of Gloucester). Mabel's son, Amaury de Montfort, was declared Earl of Gloucester.

Mabel married Amaury [V] de Montfort Comte d'Évreux, son of Simon [III] de Montfort Comte d'Évreux, Seigneur de Montfort l'Amaury and Mathilde, about 1170. (Amaury [V] de Montfort Comte d'Évreux was born about 1147 in Montfort-l'Amaury, Yvelines, Île-de-France, FR and died in 1191 in Évreux, Eure, Haute-Normandie, FR.)
