  General Notes:

JOAN de Port (-[1204/13]). The early 13th century Histoire de Guillaume le Maréchal records that "la fillie sire Adam de Port" married "son frére" (indicating the brother of William Marshal Earl of Pembroke). "Ric de Riveriis" paid a fine to marry "filia Ade de Port", dated [1200/01].

m firstly JOHN "the Marshal", son of JOHN FitzGilbert "the Marshal" & his second wife Sibyl of Salisbury ([1144/45]-Mar 1194, bur Bradenstoke).

m secondly ([1200/01]) as his second wife, RICHARD de Rivers, son of --- (-[4 Dec 1221/15 Mar 1222]).

He [John the Marshal] m. Joan, daughter of Adam de Port, Lord of Basing, by his 1st wife, Mabel de Orval. He dsp. in Mar 1194, and was buried at Bradenstoke. His wife survived him and m. 2ndly, Richard de Rivers; she was living in 1204, but dead in 1213.

He [Richard de Rivers] married, 2ndly, presumably in 1200, Joan, widow of John MARSHAL, elder brother of William, afterwards 1st EARL OF PEMBROKE, and daughter of Adam DE PORT. She was living in 1204.

Joan married John Marshal, son of John FitzGilbert Master Marshal and Sibyl de Salisbury.1 (John Marshal was born about 1144-1145,1 died in Mar 1194 1 3 4 and was buried in Bradenstoke Priory, Bradenstoke, Wiltshire, SN15, GB.)


Joan next married Richard de Rivers about 1200-1201.2
