WILLIAM de Munchensy (-before 7 May 1204). The Rotuli de Dominabus of 1185 records property "Holkham" held by "Agnes de Muntchenesy…lx annorum…filia Pagani filii Johannis", adding that she had "iii filios primogenitus…Radulphus et secundus Willelmus…ambo milites, tertius…Hubertus…clericus…[et] ii filias…una nupta Stephano de Glanville et altera Willemo Painel". King John confirmed "custodiam terre et heredum Willelmi de Mutkanes" to "Willelmo com Arundell", as well as "maritagium Aveline que fuit uxor ipsius Willelmi", by charter dated 7 May 1204.

m as her first husband, AVELINE de Clare, daughter of ROGER de Clare Earl of Hertford & his wife Matilda de Saint-Hilaire (-(-[22 Nov 1220/4 Jun 1225). King John confirmed "custodiam terre et heredum Willelmi de Mutkanes" to "Willelmo com Arundell", as well as "maritagium Aveline que fuit uxor ipsius Willelmi", by charter dated 7 May 1204. Her parentage and first marriage are indicated by the order dated 23 Dec 1213 under which her son "Guarinus de Munchainesy" paid a fine for "hereditarie" with "W. com Arundell avunculus ipsius Warini" acting as guarantor, William Earl of Arundel being the son of the second husband of Warin's paternal grandmother. She married secondly (before 29 May 1205) as his second wife, Geoffrey FitzPiers Earl of Essex. "Gaufridus filius Petri comes Essex" donated property to Winchester St Swithin, for the anniversaries of "…Petri de Lutegareshale patris mei…et Mathildis matris mee…et sponsarum mearum Beatricis et Aveline et liberorum meorum" by undated charter.

William & his wife had two children: William and Warin.

WILLIAM DE MUNCHENSY, brother and heir, received possession of Gooderstone in December 1179; was knighted before 1185, and had succeeded his brother by Michaelmas 1190. He had done military service in person before Michaelmas 1194 and in 1198 was serving in Normandy. In August 1199 at Roche d'Andelys he was one of the guarantors of the treaty between King John and the Count of Flanders. He was one of those who fined for not serving overseas in 1201; and was a benefactor of the houses of West Dereham and Missenden.

He married, before 1186, Aveline, daughter of Roger (DE CLARE), EARL OF HERTFOAD, by Maud, daughter and heir of James DE ST. HILAIRE, of Dalling, &c., Norfolk, &c. He died before 7 May 1204. His widow married, before 29 May 1205, Geoffrey (FITZ PIERS), EARL OF Essex. She died before 4 June 1225.
