   Other names for Peter were Peter de Goushill and Piers de Goxhill.

  General Notes:

Sir Piers de Goushill (or Goushull or Gousle, &c., of Goxhill, co. Lincoln, &c., s. and h. of Sir Giles de Goushill (d), of the same, was sum. for military service in Wales in 1277 and 1282. On 28 June 1283 (11 Edw. I) he was sum. to attend the King at Shrewsbury. He m. Ela, da. of Sir Ralph de Camoys (f), and d. before 1 July 1286, when any dignity which may be supposed to have been created by the writ of 1283 descended to his s. and h. Ralph de Goushill (h).

(d) Write of 'certiori' on petition of Isable (de Forz), Countess of Aumale, and inquisition following thereon, showing that Piers de Goushill was sheriff of Lincoln 23 Nov 1267, but appears on 8 Feb 1267/8 as sheriff of York, when the castle of York was committed to him, and was late sheriff of York 3 July 1269.

(f) Toppesfield manor in Essex was given to Piers de Goushill by Ralph de Camoys in free marriage with Ela, his da.

(h) This Ralph de Goushill was b. about 1274 (aged 12 on feast of St. Lenard 14 Edw I). On 18 Apr 1288 Eustace de Hache was granted his lands in Gedney &c. during his minority. He m. Hawise, da. of Sir Fulk FitzWarin, and d. before 30 Aug 1294, being still under age. His widow had dower assigned 30 Jan 1294, and appears to have m., 2ndly, Robert de Hoo. The heir of Ralph de Goushill was his infant da. Margaret, who was born in 1294, and was m., 1stly, to Philip le Despenser, who d. 24 Sep 1313. By him she was mother of another Philip le Despenser, father of Sir Philip le Despenser, Lord Despenser. She was still under age when she was m., 2ndly, to Sir John de Ros. He was dead in or before 1339, and she d. 29 July 1349.

Peter married Ela de Camoys, daughter of Sir Ralph de Camoys and Asceline de Torpel. (Ela de Camoys was born about 1249 and died in 1291.)
