  General Notes:

William Hussey, believed to be a son of Hugh Hussey, was born about 1030 in Normandy. It is presumed that he
accompanied William the Conqueror in his invasion of England and participated in the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It
is suggested that he held land in Somersetshire, probably Sanford manor, as his portion of the spoils of conquest. He
and his brother, Walter Hussey were listed as residents of Somersetshire in 1080 living in the vicinity of Bath, according to "Domesday Book." Twenty years after the Battle of Hastings King William I [the Conqueror] ordered the survey which later became known as "Domesday Book" probably to record the fiscal rights of the king in matters of income and taxation. In a sense it was a census because it listed the Norman noblemen and some of their sub-tenants.

It is believed that children born to William Hussey include:
- Hugh Hussey born about 1070
