ROBERT le Strange (-[12] Oct 1276). "Dominis Rogero Extraneo, Roberto fratre suo" witnessed the charter dated to [1270] under which "Hawise" kept the manor of Stretton for "frater suus dominus Hamo Extraneus" when he left for Palestine, with the consent of "mariti sui…domini Griffini". "John le Strange Lord of Knokyn" gave Wrockwardine manor to "Robert le Strange his brother" dated 23 May 1275. Eyton gives some details about his descendants in Shropshire.

Writ (of certiorari), on the complaint of Fulk son of the said Robert that the escheator had taken the manor of Sutton Madok, whereof the said Robert had enfeoffed him, into the king's hand, 13 Sept. 4 Edw. I.

Salop. Inq. Friday before St. Michael, 4 Edw. I.

Sutton Madok. The said Robert, before he took his journey towards the Holy Land, enfeoffed the said Fulk of the manor, to him and his heirs for ever, and he was in seisin thereof until the escheator took the manor into the king's hand after the decease of the said Robert, who had no seisin there after the said demise.

Writ, to Guncelin de Badelesmere, justice of Chester, 16 Oct. 4 Edw. I.

Chester. Inq. Tuesday after St. Clement the Pope, 5 Edw. I.

Merburi. The manor, sometime held of Henry de Erdinton for 1 knight's fee by service of a rose, but he gave it during his life to Robert his son.

John his son, age unknown because he does not dwell in the county, is his next heir.

Writ of plenius certiorari to the justice of Chester, on the complaint of Robert son of the said Robert, that the escheator had taken the manor of Mereburi whereof his father had enfeoffed him, into the king's hand, 20 Oct. 4 Edw. I.

Chester. Inq. Tuesday after St. Clement, 5 Edw. I.

Merburi. The manor was given by the said Robert to Robert his son by charter, and he was in peaceful seisin thereof from Sunday until Wednesday.
